3 Ways to Break Through When You’re Burning Out and Ready for a Change

In the midst of particularly hard days when I feel that I can’t endure, I remind myself that my track record for getting through hard days is 100% so far. On my birthday many moons ago, when Google and I were both a lot younger, I Googled “how to change your life when you’re burning out” to see what would come up. I had been feeling hopelessly trapped in a cycle of busyness—like I was racing around in circles every day without any meaningful progress. And it was time to find a better roadmap because I was literally getting depressed with the same old grind. Granted, I was working 60+ hours a week, struggling with a failing business, and coping with the recent deaths of two loved ones. The stress and pace of life just seemed to keep me busy from sunrise to midnight every day without much...

When Should We Skip the Graphic Organizer?

By Sunday Cummins Quite often when we hand students a graphic organizer to complete while analyzing a text’s structure, we’re doing the thinking for them. We’re telling them how the author has organized and developed the ideas in that source. The students just have to find the details that fit into the graphic organizer.   This is a missed opportunity for kids to engage in critical thinking of their own. Providing students with graphic organizers related to text structures can also be problematic because many authors use multiple structures in a source. For example, an article about the latest drone technology may appear to be descriptive, describing what a drone is and how drones are used. But what about when the author also addresses the potential effects drones may have on ou...

Johns, Lindblom, Ryan named Masterton Trophy finalists – Reuters

Dallas Stars defenseman Stephen Johns, Philadelphia Flyers forward Oskar Lindblom and Ottawa Senators forward Bobby Ryan were named the finalists for the 2019-20 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy on Thursday. Voted on by the Professional Hockey Writers Association, the award goes to “the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.” The winner will be announced during the conference finals. Johns, 28, missed 22 months due to post-concussion syndrome and painful headaches before returning to the ice with the Stars in January. He tallied two goals and three assists in 17 games this season. Lindblom, 23, was diagnosed with a type of bone cancer called Ewing’s sarcoma in December. At the time, he was tied for the Flyers’ lead with 11 goals thr...

Parents Opt for Safety First, Stand with Educators on Reopening Schools

(AP Photo/Rick Bowmer) Many parents nationwide are questioning whether it’s safe to send their kids back to a brick and mortar school this fall. With varied life circumstances, and different districts and schools choosing different options, it’s a daunting decision to make. For Florida’s Raquel Pantoja Lias, a mom of a rising fourth grader in Broward County, it’s a hard “no.” Under an emergency order from the state education commissioner, most schools are scheduled to reopen on August 19 for in-person learning, five days a week, a plan supported by Gov. Ron DeSantis. Along with educators and parents, the Florida Education Association filed suit against state officials to safeguard the health and welfare of public school students, educators, and the community at large. The lawsuit intend...

30 Men Share Their Honest Feelings About Their Penis Size

Women aren’t the only ones who struggle with their appearance. Here is what a few guys from Ask Reddit have to say about their penises. 1. The only other penises I’ve seen were porn stars’, so I have no idea if mine is big or small. 2. I’m the definition of ‘grower, not a shower’. It’s a great dick when I’m hard, good size and curved just the right way, but it’s so damn small when in flaccid to the point that I’m too embarrassed to even show my partner of three years. It’s a weird mindset. 3. I’m uncircumcised and at first I felt weird when I found out it wasn’t the norm in the U.S. Then when I got to college and had a lot more sexual experiences I felt a lot better about it because I never had a girl complain about it, but I mean honestly it just looks li...

You don’t want to hurt them in the process of trying to protect yourself. When you love someone, you should allow yourself to act vulnerable around them. You shouldn’t feel like you have to censor yourself in order to impress them. You shouldn’t walk on eggshells because you’re worried about chasing them away. Showing your real, raw, authentic self is part of ...
